Conferences

SAHARA holds a regular conference in order to:

  • Disseminate research findings.
  • Build a network of social aspects of HIV/AIDS researchers in Africa.
  • Build research capacity.

An important feature of SAHARA conferences is that they actively seek to involve local communities and people affected by HIV in an effort facilitate dialogue between researchers, implementers and communities.

SAHARA has convened four conferences:

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) are pleased to announce the 6th SAHARA Conference to be held at NMMU in Port Elizabeth, South Africa from 28 November - 2 December 2011.

The theme for the 6th SAHARA Conference is HIV/AIDS and Human Rights.
