Prior to joining UNAIDS Mark served as Chief of UNICEF’s HIV/AIDS Section in New York (2000-2003) and was responsible for guiding and coordinating UNICEF support for an expanded response to HIV/AIDS. Before this post Mark spent many years in field postings in east and southern Africa as UNICEF Representative in Mozambique (1997-2000), Zambia (1993-1997) and Somalia (1992-1993); and before that as Senior Programme Officer in Angola (1988-1992), Assistant Representative in Swaziland (1984-1988) and as Emergency Health Project Officer in Uganda (1981-1984). Mark is a national of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Monash University, 1997) and Masters Degree in Economics and African Studies (School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, 1980). |
Mark is the Director of the UNAIDS Regional Support Team (RST) for East and Southern Africa and has been in this position since December 2003.
